Proposal · prepared for Barnabas Arts House · 17 May 2026

A few specific fixes for barnabasartshouse.co.uk.

Barnabas Arts House · Newport · website rebuild

I rebuild small-business sites in my spare time when I can see they are leaving conversions on the table. I spent an hour on barnabasartshouse.co.uk on a phone over coffee. Three things stood out, all about how much social proof, structured data and brand surface the homepage is sitting on. Three findings below, then a working rebuild you can click through.

Three findings, in order of revenue impact

What the current site is sitting on.

A walk-through of the live barnabasartshouse.co.uk on a phone, on a Tuesday morning, 17 May 2026.

01

122 five-star reviews, none surfaced anywhere on the homepage.

What I saw
The Barnabas Google profile carries 122 reviews at an average of 4.7 stars. Tripadvisor sits at 5.0 from a smaller pool. Recurring praise in the reviews uses very specific language: "oasis of calm", "warm welcome", "no pressure to move on", "hidden gem", "artists and framers themselves". None of these reviews or phrases appears anywhere on barnabasartshouse.co.uk. A first-time visitor weighing whether to drive into Pillgwenlly has zero social proof to read before they go.
After rebuild
After rebuild: an `aggregateRating` schema block surfaces the 4.7 / 122-review figure to Google so the star rating shows on the snippet. A small "what visitors say" panel uses two or three of the actual review-language phrases (attributed). The hero badge row shows "4.7 stars / 122 reviews / Google" the moment the page loads.
02

The LocalBusiness schema tells Google the gallery is in California.

What I saw
The homepage of barnabasartshouse.co.uk ships three JSON-LD blocks. The LocalBusiness block correctly states the name, the NP20 2BB postcode, and the New Ruperra Street address, but sets `"addressRegion":"CA"`, the two-letter code for California, not Wales. It also has no `openingHoursSpecification`, no `image`, no `priceRange`, no `aggregateRating`, no `geo` coordinates. Google can identify it as a business, but cannot show the rich snippet (no stars, no hours, no photo on Search) and is being told the gallery is in the wrong country.
After rebuild
After rebuild: a correct LocalBusiness block with `addressRegion: "Wales"` (or `GB-NWP`), full `openingHoursSpecification` with the Mon and Sun closed, `image` pointing to the chapel exterior shot, `aggregateRating` from the 122 Google reviews, and `geo` coordinates pinned to 4A New Ruperra Street. Rich-snippet stars and hours start appearing in Search within weeks of launch.
03

Every enquiry routes to barnabasartshouse@outlook.com, a personal-Outlook address on a 2026 gallery site.

What I saw
The contact page and the footer of every page list the email as barnabasartshouse@outlook.com. That is a free Outlook personal-account mailbox, not an info@ or hello@ address on the barnabasartshouse.co.uk domain the gallery already owns. Exhibition submissions, studio rental enquiries, frame commissions, event-hire bookings and grant-funding correspondence all arrive with "@outlook.com" in the sender row. For Newport's only independent gallery the signal is unmissable before the message body is even read.
After rebuild
After rebuild: a Google Workspace mailbox provisioned on barnabasartshouse.co.uk (info@ + janet@). The Outlook address forwards into it for three months so no enquiry is lost, then retires. Every reply going forward leaves the building with the gallery's own domain in the sender row.

If the proposal lands, reply with two or three 20-minute slots in the next ten days for a video call. I take on three Newport and Cardiff builds this quarter, and first confirmed wins the slot. If I do not hear back by 27 May 2026, the proposal site comes down.
